Human Trafficking is a $150 billion industry, and currently is the 3rd largest criminal enterprise in the world.  Each and every day millions of adults and children, both men and women, are sold into this modern-day slavery.  They are controlled against their will through force, fraud, or coercion for the intention of engaging in commercial sex acts or labor services.  Unfortunately, this hideous crime is happening across the United States, including the communities within my home state of Wisconsin.  Within the last two years, there have been 155 reports to the National Human Trafficking Hotline [ 1 (888) 373.7888 ].  This number only represents the cases that were able to be reported.  This statistic is missing the hundreds, likely thousands, of victim's voices who were not able to be heard because they are still trapped within the trafficking system.

The faces of human trafficking are all different, and no two stories are the same.  Victims of Trafficking are everyday people.  Please read that last sentence again, and find the most important word in that sentence....People.  Yes, these victims are humans, and too often blame is placed on victims for ending up in Trafficking.  At the end of the day, we need to set everything aside and simply recognize humanity.
